Meet the Dolls

Melina Mortensen has always loved the glamor of old Hollywood and the 80’s Rocker Chic looks.  When Melina heard about Shampoo Dolls Salon and their unique blend of Old Hollywood style mixed with a pinup biker chick vibe, she knew it was a natural fit for her and her talents.

“What’s the best part of what I do? That’s a difficult question. I love so many creative aspects of this profession. But If I had to chose just one, I would say it is helping clients find their inner beauty and reveal it on the outside.  I love creating a style that not only transforms their hair but also their attitude and self confidence. There is nothing more wonderful than the smile on my clients face at the end of a service."

Melina is known for her amazing hair color makeovers and she is also the resident educating stylist for gentlemen’s barbering techniques, having had extensive training in both.

Melina has been in the beauty industry for over 10 years. She grew up in Tillamook, Oregon. She spent most of her career working in Central Oregon before relocating to Cottage Grove and joining the team at Shampoo Dolls.

She enjoys learning and keeps herself current on trends and product lines. She believes industry knowledge is key and attends hair shows and online training whenever possible.

Laura has been a hair stylist since 2007.  She is passionate about hair color and particularly enjoys getting creative with blonde colors. She values uniqueness and is always up for a challenge when it comes to pushing the limits with hair color. She is an experienced stylist and welcomes new clients!

Laura was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona but is currently enjoying life in Cottage Grove with her husband, daughter and new baby boy.

Jennifer is definitely an artist. Even before any formal training in the arts, she had an undeniable natural ability.   After graduating from Cottage Grove High School, Jennifer went to college where she studied color theory, figure drawing, airbrushing and many other art mediums and applications.

She has applied her artistic skills towards tattoo design, advertising and commissioned paintings. She even worked as a florist at one time.  Moving into the beauty industry was a natural progression!

She excelled at the IBS School of Cosmetology where she won first place at the school’s winter updo challenge. She loves hair color and is trained in all the latest techniques including custom highlights, balayage, ombre hair and the popular bright and vivid colors.

She enjoys working with people and is a great listener.   She is very sweet and caring, and truly wants each and every client that sits in her chair to leave happy and feel like they have made a new friend. Jennifer takes plenty of time during a consultation and is attentive all the way through to the finished style.

I believe hair is the picture frame of the face. It is so important to find the right look for you, it can change your whole energy and what you project to the world.

She loves her community and is proud to be a district rep for the South Lane School District budget committee where she is serving for her 11th year.   Jennifer is a single mother of a son and a daughter, both fellow graduates of her own Alma Mater, Cottage Grove High School.

Taylor is one of the newest members of the Shampoo Dolls Salon team. Taylor grew up in Drain, graduated from North Douglas High School and since settled down in Cottage Grove.

She attended Northwest College of Beauty because the idea of helping others look and feel their best stole her heart as a young girl. She loves the way the right hairstyle or the perfect lip shade can completely transform someone's appearance and renew their confidence.  She specializes in Eyelash Extensions and Lash Tinting,  hoping to make a mark on the beauty industry as a Lash Artist.

In her down time, Taylor enjoys spending time outdoors with her family whether it be walking the dogs or  snowmobiling in the mountains.
